Why do I need to book a test ride?

Wicked Wheels offers private, appointment-based demos so you can take your time, ask questions, and compare bikes in a relaxed, personal setting.

 

Is Wicked Wheels a brick-and-mortar bike shop?
Wicked Wheels is a mobile e-bike shop. We believe the best test ride happens where you’ll likely ride, not just around a parking lot. We maintain a service garage and demo fleet, while our online selection is broader. When booking a demo, we will suggest a local place to test ride or bring test bikes to your home.

 

Can you help me choose the right e-bike?
Yes. Once we understand what you’re looking for, we can help you choose and order the right bike. We look at comfort, hills, range, bike weight, storage, riding style, and budget, not just motor size or speed.

 

Do you deliver e-bikes fully assembled?
Yes. Most e-bikes purchased from us can be delivered fully assembled to your home, charged, and ready to ride.

About e-bikes

What should I look for when buying an e-bike?

• Top speed 28 MPH or less
• A style that meets your practical riding and storage needs
• Battery relevant UL-certification
• A manufacturer with a good reputation
• A local dealer that supports the brand (sales, service, warranty)

 

Can an e-bike handle Worcester hills?

Better than non-electric bicycles. We generally recommend a motor at least 500W for Worcester hills, although you will experience easier riding even with smaller motors.

 

Are e-bikes safe for older riders?

E-bikes can be a great fit for older riders. As with any device, this a physical, moving device that requires some balance and coordination. If someone is capable of operating a motor vehicle or bicycle, then they are likely suited to an e-bike. Many of our customers who are older turn to e-bikes in order to make it easier to keep cycling. 

 

Are e-bikes safe for younger riders?

E-bikes can be a great fit for younger riders who are responsible, who need a way to independently commute to and from school, home, and work. We require that riders younger than 16 complete an online training before their adult purchases. In addition, as a policy, we do not sell e-bikes that go faster than 20 mph to anyone younger than 16mph. We also require proof of helmet ownership and proper wear.

 

 

How fast do your e-bikes go?

The fastest e-bike we sell is a Class 3 e-bike, which legally goes up to 28 mph. 

 

How far can you ride?

30–90 miles per charge typically, depending on terrain and power usage. Some bikes can be equipped with secondary batteries to extend range even further. However, we find that majority of riders are going less than 40 miles in any single ride.

 

How much do e-bikes weigh?

30–80 lbs, depending on style and battery size. Cargo bikes can exceed 80lb.

 

Do e-bikes need a license/registration?

No. According to Massachusetts law in 2026, electric bicycles are treated as bicycles.

 

What is the price range?

• Entry-level: $1,000 - $5,000.
• Premium: $5,000 - $15,000+.

 

Is there something wrong with e-bikes that cost less than $1,000?

Electrical bicycles have more components than a traditional bicycle. It's challenging to find an e-bike made of quality parts, where the manufacturer has paid for UL-battery safety testing, and that has local parts and support for less than $1,000 in upfront cost. For bikes that cost less upfront, you're likely to pay more in maintenance and repair costs later.

How do you charge an e-bike?

A standard outlet, using the charger provided (similar to a laptop charger).

 

How much does it cost to charge an e-bike in Massachusetts?

~0.5kWh x $0.37/kWh = $0.19.If you charge every day, it’ll cost ~$68/year.

 

Where can you ride an e-bike? 

In Massachusetts, Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are treated as bicycles and can be ridden on streets, in bike lanes, and on shared-use pathways. Bikes that go faster than 20 MPH may be restricted in by future state law.

 

What special maintenance do e-bike require?

The electrical components do not require special maintenance. Like a traditional bike, the moving and mechanical parts subject to wear and tear. Wheels, chains, and brakes must be maintained for safe riding.

Does Wicked Wheels offer repair and maintenance service?
Yes. We service the e-bikes and scooters we sell. For products purchased elsewhere, service is available on a case-by-case basis. We only work on UL-certified products.

 

What happens if I need parts or warranty support?

If you have any issue, please bring it to us. As an authorized dealer for all of the brands we choose to sell, we have a direct contact the each brand, streamlining support for customers who buy from us. We will liaise with the manufacturer on your behalf.
